Ginetta Junior Winter Series
Brands Hatch 9/10 November 2019
In preparation for Tom’s 2020 Ginetta Junior Championship campaign he joined the grid last weekend to compete in the Winter Series. The series featured a two day competition, with one qualifying session and two races taking place each day.

Initial testing went well but with changing conditions Tom found the wet track for qualifying a steep learning curve and would finish 9th.
In his second race things went much better as Tom found himself as high as 6th place for a significant chunk of the race. The slippy conditions got the better of many a driver – including Tom who would finish 10th. All in all a promising start.

The next day Tom focussed on not spinning as he had the previous day in the wet but unfortunately this was to his detriment, resulting a poor qualifying session and first race.
Things took a turn for the better, however, in the second race of the day. Tom had a great start and was up with the experienced – and faster – drivers early. He held on to the pack well to cross the line just behind the 6th and 7th runners.
His test times showed that he was faster than his racing would suggest which is very promising for his maiden season. This was the first time Tom had raced in the car on his own and was a fantastic learning experience for him.
